Meet Shon

Raised in Cashmere with conservative values, I’m proud to have become an integral part of the Wenatchee Valley, owning businesses in Wenatchee and Leavenworth and raising my children in Cashmere. My wife Janeen, our four children and I worship at Mid-Valley Baptist Church and have been actively involved with the Cashmere schools.

I graduated from Cashmere High School in 1989 and from Northwest Nazarene University in 1993 with a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis on finance. After college, I worked at Idaho Timber in Boise for two years. In 1995, missing the valley, I returned with Janeen and worked for two years at Dovex Fruit Company in Wenatchee. Both work experiences gave me a feel for the timber and fruit industries and the impact they have on our region. I then put my personal business plan into action by opening the Wok-About-Grill in Wenatchee in 1997 and another in Leavenworth in 2014.

For generations, my family has farmed Eastern Washington, hunted and fished the lands and waters of Chelan County, and treated the land and the environment with respect. So great is our appreciation for our rivers and lakes that I hope these natural resources will be preserved as gifts for generations to come. Some changes are inevitable, but solutions to issues need to ensure that we maintain our identity for the future, especially for our families. 

Elected to office in November 2022, I can honestly say I love this job. I look forward to coming to the office every day, or meeting residents wherever they are. I pride myself on being a self-made businessman, and that energy has suited me well as a county commissioner.

Along with chairing the Board of County Commissioners for the past two years, I serve on about a dozen committees and boards throughout the county. I have been chairman of the Chelan-Douglas Health District for the past two years. I also chair the Chelan County Lodging Tax Committee.

I have a great concern for the ongoing health of the valley, its resources, its people and our private property rights. I also have a passion for the success of small businesses because of their great impact on Chelan County. My priorities for the upcoming term are not limited to but include:

• Jobs by supporting small business development. I have one myself!

• Public safety-support the Fire, Sheriff, EMS and First Responders

• Responsible taxation

• Reasonable housing for families

• Limited government - No nanny state!

 • Personal property rights protection

 • Healthy forests, waters, agriculture and tourism

• Safe and reliable roads and bridges
